Earn £150 a day as a Close Protection Officer
A new career in security
A growing demand for Close Protection Officers in the UKmeans that security personnel working in a range of other jobs are beingencouraged to upskill – often for free – and earn a lot more from theircareers.
A mixture of an increased terrorist threat and a moredangerous society generally means that a wider range of people are willing topay for close protection services - a service also known as a bodyguard.
The right qualifications are critical to work in thisindustry but Adrian Rabey, managing director of Aartic Training Group, a leading UK training provider, says that these can often be done for freein Wales under the Welsh Government’s apprenticeship schemes.
As long as an individual is already working a minimum of16-hours a week, they can often qualify for free training – something thatbenefits both the individual and their employer.
Adrian says that security staff will often be qualified inother areas of this profession but not close protection.
“We have seen a steady growth in demand for this type ofservice but there is a shortage of qualified personnel,” said Adrian. “Fewpeople realise that the training to upskill to this can be free. We have hadgood uptake on our courses in recent years but demand continues to grow and Iwould encourage other individuals to consider this as a career.”
Award-winning Aartic Training Group offers four types of courses relatingto security: CCTV Operator, Door Supervision, Close Protection and StaticGuarding.
Adrian also notes that there are other qualifications worthconsidering if an individual is working with the public, including enhancedHealth & Safety Training, First Aid, Fire Safety and Driver Training.
