Our course is of a high level and will introduce additional elements to prepare you for deployments. We also work with UK Border Force, who are key to some of the elements of the course, including Searching and Operational planning considerations. We use the latest SIA guidance so that you can claim your licence as seamlessly as possible This course will include talks with experienced Uk Border Force officers as well as operatives from our own close protection teams.
Purpose and Aim of the Qualification
The BTEC Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry (QCF) is for learners who work in or would like to work in the private security industry as a Close Protection Operative.
This course gives learners the opportunity to:
● Develop knowledge, understanding and, practical skills required to become a licenced close protection operative, such as planning, preparing for a close protection operation, including risk assessment.
● Develop skills in conflict management and their abilities in managing and resolving conflict in the context of the role of a Close Protection Operative
● Learn the legislative framework within which the close protection industry operates; team roles, personal security, and the attributes required, including the importance of teamwork and interpersonal skills
● Achieve a nationally-recognised Level 3 qualification
● Achieve a licence to practice
● Develop their own personal growth and engagement in learning.
This qualification is supported by the SIA, the regulator for the private security industry.
How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?
The course is run over 18 days, including weekends. The hrs are long and varied.
If you are new to the Security Industry or have been around for a while and want to upskill, this is the course for you.
The course is progressive and is a ‘training course’ like all other courses run by ATG.
We aim to produce the best operators that the Security Industry wants to employ.
If we think you will not fit into the role of a Close Protection Operator, we will advise you of this.

First Aid Training
When applying for the Close Protection course, you will be required to produce evidence that you have attained a minimum of a recognised
Level 3 First Aid at Work
award.
You should present your valid first aid certificate to ATG before you start your training.
If you do not have a recognised first aid award, we can arrange this for you.
This is in addition to the minimum 195 guided learning hours of knowledge and practical skills training.
