The New Level 4 Certificate in Outdoor Fitness and Bootcamp Training is the “Licence to Teach” in the Outdoor sector.

The Level 4 Certificate in Outdoor Fitness and Bootcamp Training Academy also includes the Level 3 Personal Training Qualification to become a Personal Trainer. The Academy also covers everything for the Level 2 Gym Instructor certification, so if you are serving in the military or have left and completed more than 3 years’ service you will be able to start your new career in the fitness industry not only fully qualified but with a proven brand behind you helping you all the way.

As a OFBT, you can be employed as a:

Team Building co-ordinator -for example, working in schools or local authorities to deliver extra curriculum activities

Personal Trainer- Example, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) who wish to be coached at different levels, i.e., Businesspeople, sports stars, and celebrities.

Residential- Example, working in a Gym as part of a team or OFBT.

Educator- Example, delivering OFBT qualifications and experience to new entrants to the Industry.


As a OFBT, it will attract a higher salary because of the training and experience you bring to the market. A couple of Examples:

Team Building – can have a £500-£800 day rate.

Corporate Clients: Group Training Days – can pay around £1000-£1500 per day.

High-Net worth individuals – can pay around £150 per session.

Extremely High Net Worth Individuals – can pay £300+ per session.

The qualification meets the needs of a range of fitness industry professionals who would like to gain a qualification that focuses on the client’s complete requirements. It is appropriate for those with some experience of teaching and training.


This could include individuals who are not currently teaching and training in the fitness sector but can meet the practice requirements outlined in the mandatory and optional units. It is also appropriate for individuals currently working as Teambuilders who wish to achieve a fitness industry-recognised qualification.


What experience do i need to be able to acess this Qualification?
Prior to registration for the qualification learners are required to:

• Be accurately identified.

• Be at least 18 years of age. 

• Be able to communicate effectively in English [reading, spoken, listening and writing]

• Hold a regulated Level 3 qualification in Personal Training or be able to evidence a minimum            of three years’ service in the UK armed forces. 


How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?

It is delivered using a blended learning approach using the our proven 3 Phase approach:


Phase 1: Skills Translation and Business start-up presentation (in partnership with the Veterans Enterprise UK program). This will include business planning and "The Offer".


Phase 2: Distance learning- Completion of the workbooks and theory program.


Phase 3: Lesson Delivery- five days Practical training program delivered face-to-face using our state of the art facility at our HQ in Swansea following the Latest Government guidelines on social distancing and restrictions.




The course is progressive and is a ‘training course’ like all other courses run by ATG.

We aim to produce the best POFT that the Industry wants to employ.

How is the qualification assessed?

Through a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates the learner has met the required assessment criteria. Learners will be expected to apply and show evidence of both theoretical and practical knowledge in their portfolio. It can also be achieved via blended learning

  • LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN GYM INSTRUCTING AND PERSONAL TRAINING

    The aim of the qualification is to develop the learner’s ability to fulfil the roles of a gym instructor and personal trainer capable of engaging in behaviour change.  As a gym instructor qualification is an established pre-requisite to assuming the role of a personal trainer, this qualification has combined both positions to allow a simple transition to Personal Trainer status and an appropriate progression route.


    Whilst attending the qualification learners will develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to enable them to: 


    fulfil the duties of a Gym Instructor

    fulfil the duties of the personal trainer, the limits of the role and the potential impacts on clients

    drive behaviour change by maximising the customer experience

    drive behaviour change through effective exercise supervision and technique

    drive behaviour change through health and wellbeing intervention and impact analysis

    drive positive change through anatomical and movement systems intervention and impact analysis

    drive positive change through nutritional intervention and impact analysis

    drive positive change through exercise technique intervention and impact analysis

    meet the deployment expectations of a Gym Instructor

    meet the deployment expectations of a personal trainer

    be able to support a personal training enterprise 

  • Level 4 Certificate in Outdoor Fitness and Bootcamp Training

    The aim of the qualification is to develop the learner’s ability to fulfil the role of an outdoor fitness and boot camp trainer.  

    The objective is to provide a benefit to learners by supporting an established role in the fitness industry. Whilst attending the qualification learners will develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to enable them to:

    • demonstrate accurate and safe outdoor exercise technique. 

    • engage and educate participants in the development of an initial profile. 

    • conduct safety checks through reconnaissance, risk assessment accident prevention techniques. 

    • support sustainable psychological development through safe and effective outdoor fitness sessions and Bootcamp programmes.  

    • support sustainable physiological development through safe and effective outdoor fitness sessions and Bootcamp programmes. 

    • analyse the impact of safe, inclusive, and progressive outdoor fitness sessions and Bootcamp programmes.

    It is the Licence to teach in this specialist area.
